About Jon Stewart:

“He dutifully reminded his audience that Democrats could work this all out at, let’s say, a convention. In a place like Chicago, perhaps? In like, six weeks maybe? While there, the Dems could reflect upon their options after, for example, visiting the restaurant featured in the FX series ‘The Bear.’  In the flurry, Stewart clarified ‘I am not saying Biden should drop out; [but] can’t we open up the conversation?’”

And give the electoral votes to Trump?

WTAF?

If this is Jon Stewart “dutifully reminding” people, then he is dumber than I thought (and after watching a few episodes of The Problem it was pretty low).

See, Stewart and his staff don’t read the news, or at least can’t remember before the debate, or perhaps they have a separate agenda? Don’t care.

What I DO care about is that is tantamount to giving Trump Ohio’s electoral votes for free.

Trump won’t even have to work for them. He can skip Ohio.

Stewart guarantees it.

3/

Why?

It’s not new (well, to Stewart it is, but he doesn’t have America’s future at heart, just ratings — he is, after all, “just a comedian”, I know because that’s his excuse when his shit hits the fan).

Ohio’s ballot deadline has been BEFORE the DNC convention for some time. This time, the Ohio Republicans were attempting to prevent Biden from being on the ballot…

Oh, wait, did you miss that? Stewart did.

The Ohio Ballot DEADLINE is BEFORE the convention.

What??!!

Look it up. Stewart didn’t. Hell, it’s only been in the news BEFORE the debate.

Why is Stewart not telling you this? Did he forget? Did he rely on his staff?

Or is he “just a comedian” and shouldn’t be relied upon?

The Problem With Jon Stewart is he want to believe a fiction. That’s fine. I don’t care. But I DO care when he argues that fiction is fact with no unintended consequences.

He really is just a comedian.

Who want to give electoral votes to Trump for free.

@Mark15

Maybe, maybe not.

But GIVING it away is irresponsible.

Remember, people said Biden couldn’t win.

Taking things for granted is how we lose.

Biden came to Texas. The state is in play. Yet Republicans want to believe it is totally red.

It is not.

@feloneouscat I certainly would be pleased if Ohio is a win for the Democrats, but that's not the vibe I get here in the west central part of the state.

@Mark15

Neither is Texas and yet Biden is stumping here.

The problem is Stewart is wants to give Ohio away.

Ohio went Obama in 2008 and 2012. It was also close for Trump on 2016 and 2020.

But GIVING it to Trump is a great strategy?

Thats just bad strategy.

@feloneouscat

And, all other considerations aside, that will be past the ballot deadline in Ohio, which is why the roll-call is happening by videoconference the week before.

@CLManussier

Exactly.

Yet all these talking heads act like there are no unintended consequences to make it a free-for-all at the conference.

Including Stewart.

This is the problem with relying on emotion rather than facts.

@feloneouscat

Jon Stewart has been a hideous disappointment with his narrative since he returned to The Daily Show.

"Can't we open up the conversation?" smells an awful lot like Tucker Carlson's "I'm just asking questions."

Stewart should (and I believe he does, or did once) know better. Especially with what's at stake now.

/Even if/ Biden was truly failing (and I don't think he is), he's got a competent VP & advisors behind him. None of whom want to destroy the country.

@Tarnagh @feloneouscat Preach!

Stewart has been a huge disappointment since his return. I have loved his work, but he is not a force for good in this.

@rpardee @Tarnagh @feloneouscat

He began to take himself too seriously as an “important person” IMO and now tends to sniff his own farts, so to speak.

@Y2cake @rpardee @Tarnagh

He also relies on “I’m just a comedian” when his bullshit hits the fan.

He’s a self-important, low information, comedian. He relied on news junkies during Bush.

Now I think he relies on a staff with the same tunnel-vision as him.

That’s not good for democracy nor good for the country.

Agendas that ignore reality are detrimental to America.

@feloneouscat @Y2cake @rpardee

It's really, REALLY difficult to see him as the same guy who once appeared on Crossfire, begging them to stop tearing the country apart.

@Tarnagh @Y2cake @rpardee

I’ve seen that and, in retrospect, it’s the same guy. At the time I saw it through the filter of “hey, he’s the smart dude on the Daily Show” but even at the time his complaints rang hollow.

He was doing EXACTLY what he accused others. But he had an excuse, “I’m just a comedian!”

This is problematic when you have a large megaphone and are an influencer. It’s difficult to accuse others of having a bias when you ALSO have a bias. That’s being disingenuous.
