We very often share words, images and videos because it makes us feel good and we want to share that with others in the hopes that they too will feel good.

So what is the reason we share words, images and videos that make us angry, hateful and desperate?

Because knowledge is power, even if it is upsetting.

I firmly believe we cannot survive unless we learn the bad as well as the good.

I’m a reluctant historian — history contains a lot of really bad shit. Human beings have done a lot of really awful things. They have also done amazing things. Ghandi taught we are stronger by NOT fighting. MLK Jr used the same tactics.

Inequity SHOULD force you to “fight” for equity.

Someone asked Walter Cronkite what there weren’t more positive stories on the news (this was during the Sixties). IIRC his response was along the lines of good things are what we expect — bad things are the news.

@feloneouscat Perhaps this has to be re-examined. Because now we expect the worse but rarely see the good.
