Because knowledge is power, even if it is upsetting.
I firmly believe we cannot survive unless we learn the bad as well as the good.
I’m a reluctant historian — history contains a lot of really bad shit. Human beings have done a lot of really awful things. They have also done amazing things. Ghandi taught we are stronger by NOT fighting. MLK Jr used the same tactics.
Inequity SHOULD force you to “fight” for equity.
@feloneouscat Perhaps this has to be re-examined. Because now we expect the worse but rarely see the good.
@feloneouscat I agree. However, at this late stage of the game I can't believe anyone (American) on this platform would even consider voting for "that guy". Know the environment you're in I guess is the best way to put it. I appreciate the ones who are here to vent and we are here to listen, but we don't need to match the level of anger to appreciate where someone is coming from. That's all.
I think many mistake my presentation as anger. It’s frustration.
I FREQUENTLY tell people to block me. I’m not here to be a cheerleader of the status quo.
Im retired and will die if Trump is re-elected. I just recovered from cancer and people are literally arguing about tossing the only person who HASN’T committed a sex crime.
That’s frustration, not anger.
@feloneouscat @Tacitus_Kilgore
i like your mode
of presentation
and read thru them all
it would be difficult
to entirely suppress frustration
with all the sculduggery
and plotting that is going on
in this country
because a group of people
that are in the minority
want to be in power
to do as they please
and dictate to everyone else
your posts encourage thought
about all the issues
i even smile occassionally
at your turn of phrase
keeps it in the logical brain
and out of the emotional brain
Thank you. I try.
But, as everyone else, I am only human (I think — depends on the next SCOTUS finding).
@feloneouscat @Tacitus_Kilgore
see...
you make me laugh
it makes it easier to endure
all the serious flak
we are currently beseiged with
as long as we can
effectively vote
there is possibility
for positive change
a bigger proportion
of the silent majority
needs to turn out and vote
we don't need the conservatives
to see the light
and change their minds
we need to out vote them
we need to support our candidates
we need to not lodge
an ill advised protest vote
to extort influence
@feloneouscat @Tacitus_Kilgore
i agree wholeheartedly
with knowledge is power
and knowledge will be
negative, neutral, positive
existing in all lanes
but how that knowledge
is presented is important
i think overloading it with angst
does not promote learning
does not promote thinking
of solutions or action items

Someone asked Walter Cronkite what there weren’t more positive stories on the news (this was during the Sixties). IIRC his response was along the lines of good things are what we expect — bad things are the news.
