The AT Protocol is a new creation built by Bluesky, meaning it’s difficult to say how safe it is at this point.

@ecksmc this. This right here. People don't care about their data. But they do care about account control.
@ecksmc Also the TOS/PA specifically said of security they take "reasonable" precautions. They did not define reasonable, but when they asked for my phone number (not happening) for SMS validation I figured out what "reasonable" means to them - and it isn't good.
@ecksmc
I signed up just to hold my handle there, but in the short time I looked around, I saw no compelling reason to stay.
CoSo is just fine.
@mikeflstfi yeah it's a pure shit show imo
i've been checking it out for months now
@ecksmc I decided against bluesky after viewing their privacy policy.
Finally, and perhaps the most concerning aspect, is that Bluesky doesn’t guarantee your data is secure. “Unfortunately, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you provide to us,” says section 6 under ‘Security of your information’.
Bluesky also says “It may attempt to notify you electronically by posting a notice on our Services, by mail, or by sending an email to you”, but doesn’t expressly say that it will.
