@TheCard Hopefully that's exactly what happens for everyone regardless of lore, religion,
or speculations about it.
@MidnightRider @TheCard This would be nice. You know where my hope is at though. The condition of the world right now matches biblical predictions about the end. Take care of your mental health today.
@MidnightRider @TheCard Respectfully, it's not the fault of religion. It's when religion is corrupted by evil people to further their own ends. Hitler used Christianity. Hamas uses Islam. The people doing these things are not true believers. Their actions betray their evil intentions to harm, murder, and destroy.
I was actually thinking in broad strokes about what to expect near the end. Israel as a nation exists again. War talk is everywhere. Those predictions are only found in one place.
@MidnightRider @TheCard Thank you. I also try to be respectful and I appreciate your comments and insights. There's a lot we agree on including our concerns about the new GOP Speaker of the House. I don't think the Bible has been altered in any significant way though. Most of the problems we find when reading scripture stem from either language translation difficulties or are us misapplying a modern perspective on the ancient text. We can debate the details but the broad strokes are clear.
@danielbsmith @TheCard Then you have to accept that God thought the "ladies" were lesser than men. That is one ungodly item, there are thousands.
@MidnightRider @TheCard That is not true and I don't believe that. Men and women should be treated equally. The entire book of Acts is about breaking boundaries. Jesus Himself broke expectations when He revealed Himself to women first after His resurrection in a culture where women weren't even trusted to be witnesses in a legal sense. The misogyny that people read in the Bible is from them not reading verses in context. Both men and women have responsibilities toward the other sex.
@danielbsmith @TheCard What I said about the bible saying women are supposed to be subservient. This is pretty clear my man.
Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
@MidnightRider @TheCard Read it in context. Go on. Look at the verses before and after. That's only the wife part. What does it say that the husband must do too?
The biblical position on marriage is a balance. The husband and wife have different responsibilities but both are important.
@MidnightRider @TheCard The full passage starts with verse 21 and continues to verse 33 which is the end of the chapter.
Here's the man's part.
@MidnightRider @TheCard Men who ONLY quote Ephesians 5:22 and use that to justify abuse toward their wives are in violation of scripture. Such actions prove they do not love their wives as scripture explicitly commands them to.
Women who ONLY quote Ephesians 5:22 and use that to justify rejecting God are reinforcing this misinterpretation and missing out on the benefits that the proper interpretation would bestow.
@danielbsmith @TheCard You strike me as somewhat of a bible literalist. I don't have much recall for old testament prophecy but I do remember that when God smites people it is very no bueno for them. I respect you Daniel, I truly do. For myself, the bible has way too many holes in it, and its creation decades later after to what amounts to grade school telephone game transmission is highly suspect, again IMO only.
