In talking to a client today who's son is suffering from debilitating migraines at 13...she said neurologist stated hormonal boys require 400mg of magnesium a day. Oxide vitamins to cross the brain barrier.
She was disappointed the GP never mentioned new to me too.
Takes a couple months to build up if low. Poor 12 is going to get some preventative now.
Anyone else heard of this for migraines or growing kids?
@CanisPundit thank you! Beats 13 bananas a day😂
@damselfly59 one of the recipes includes, if I remember correctly, potassium carbonate.
@CanisPundit than you! Will be looking into that afterwork. 12 eats well , variety, but anything to improve the upcoming teen years is going to be implemented. Hes also growing so fast 5'8.5 or 9 now.
@CanisPundit @damselfly59 Lack of magnesium can cause muscle cramps and jitters. The cramping and jittery feeling tells your body you are in a stressful situation even when you're not.
I've found that magnesium supplements help me be less physically tense as I get older.
@AskTheDevil thanks! All of this feedback is really useful . Think it will be good preventative and help with the occasional anxiety he has and growing @CanisPundit
Some migraines respond to magnesium. Most won't, but it's cheap and easy enough to be worth a try. The pills are sold over the counter. It's poorly absorbable, even in pill form, so you can only take so much before it has a laxative effect.
@EileenKCarpenter good warning
@damselfly59 no, but magnesium can have a calming effect. You might look into recipes for mineral water. There’s two that tend to pop up in searches.
