New Box in the house !
A System 76 Meerkat. Running Ubuntu. Just setting it up. So not really a review. This thing is small. 1.46″ × 4.61″ × 4.41″ (37 × 117 × 112mm). Very good build quality. I'm gonna try a few desktop environments. It booted up and connected to all the things, except my Cannon printer. I will fix that later.
This will replace my old Mac Mini. And I will be Apple free !

As I conferred it cost was $840.00
Understood:
If I could find a similar ARM box I would go with that. Maybe even a snapdragon.
@corlin Welcome to searching the forum vs. standing in line at the genius bar. 😁 Interested to see how you likethe Sys76 over time. (Currently running a ZaReason box, and they're gone now....)
I have never set foot in an Apple store.
And I have 3 other linux boxes: 2 raspberry pi's, and an old server rack to handle the local "NextColud" and Plex server.
@corlin Ha! Next time I hit a snag I might ask you first!
@corlin Pretty!
Be careful about desktop environments tho'. Some of them (xfce, I'm talking to you) have power-save settings that don't work with System76 drivers. Plus, I somehow got a kernel update from a stray software-updater that didn't play well at all, and I was an unhappy camper for a couple weeks before I figured out and reverted it. Now everything's back in sync and working smoothly. Be smarter than me (probably not hard)
@corlin
Sweet! I had not heard of those makers, but their prices seem good and their priorities seem right too :)
