Good point.
I have not read the paper.
So I don’t know for sure, but my guess is that this compound is “derived” form barnacles. As in purified, and contains only the “glue”, and therefore not cause a reaction to allergies.

I remember when Israel was heavy into starch and potato powder development. The strides were amazing.
