@QueenOfEverything I do it whenever there’s standing water regardless of the season.
@QueenOfEverything Here in North Carolina we can have winter warm spells, but I mostly use these in the other three seasons.
I miss North Carolina. Loving Washington state- daughters live in Seattle.
But the weather does get colder here- I'm worried about the animal critters in the winter- but I think the mosquitos here fly to Hawaii for the winter. 😎
WA also gets LOTS OF RAIN- so I'll start putting out the mosquito dunks in the early spring.

Hello fellow Washingtonian transplant!
Hey there! Yes I'm really enjoying my new home. What part of the state are you in?
@QueenOfEverything @cassandra17lina
I live near Longview, about an hour north of Portland, and 2.5 hours south of Seattle.
I'm in the Tacoma area. I really wanted to visit Swan Island Dahlias in Canby, OR but daughters were busy and not up for the drive for "FLOWERS".
@QueenOfEverything @cassandra17lina
Oh! I'm up in the Sea Tac area all the time!
Well, if you're coming this way in the next month or so... I can give you a jumbo box of DAHLIAS. They're gorgeous and I can't bear to see them all freeze.
@QueenOfEverything @cassandra17lina
I'll be out of town until November. I travel alot or I'd totally stop by. My buddy on Whidbey Island is a big time gardner.
Yes, my neighbors go to Whidbey almost every weekend... really looking forward to visiting the island.
If you ever are coming to my area- feel free to DM and we can meet up. 🌻 🌻 🌻
@QueenOfEverything @cassandra17lina I certainly will!

ETA: Sorry for assuming where in WA you live. But the west side has a lot of rain and the east side doesn't. My bad if I guessed wrong.
May I suggest that sometime you visit the east side of the state? Night/day for rainfall, etc.
I've lived in the far northeast and also the southwest. Very, very different climates. And people. And scenery.
I see Spokane on the east side. What other towns do you recommend? Love to visit... but I'm staying on the RAINY side because I've never ever been able to grow FLOWERS like I have the past 2 seasons here. I have dozens of gorgeous dahlias that I give away because my crazy cats live to stalk flowers inside the house.
@QueenOfEverything @cassandra17lina
I don't know what you like but here are some things I loved about western WA. Not a big city gal but Spokane is lovely. The river falls through the middle of the city and the walks, so nice.
The amazing scenery the farther north you travel, up to the Canadian border. Mountains and valleys, rivers and quiet streams.
If you make a big loop, either direction, across the northern part of the state on Highway 20, you'll pass through stunning mountain passes.
It sounds wonderful. I finally got my Washington driver's license. My TX expired- so I had to take the exam & driver's test- that was not fun! So I'd like to plan a trip in the spring. Also need to get a passport- I haven't been to Canada before!
@QueenOfEverything
The person who gave me my driver's exam in 1978 laughed and said in his view anyone from CA was a professional driver and shouldn't be road tested! LOL
Yes for sure go up into Canada! We lived 30 miles south of Trail, BC and went there often.
I studied a week for WA written test- it really is the hardest in the country bc of all the statistics. I used an online study and just kept drilling over and over- so kinda memorized 600 possible questions. It would take 2 weeks to schedule at the state dept. I was afraid I'd forget- so I took the test at a 911 driving school. NOT ON COMPUTER- passed out written tests, questions reworded and "wrong" answers. It was crazy. I squeaked by with an 80. Got 96 on driving.
travel it in the summer - Snoqualmie pass has big snowfall during the winter 🤣
@cassandra17lina
Even in winter? Don't mosquitos freeze in the winter?
