Our neighborhood has been overrun by “doodle” #dogs - labradoodles, golden doodles, Aussie doodles, mini-Aussie doodles and more. Even Little Miss Attitude is asking the inevitable question: if crossing your dog breed with a poodle results in a superior “new” breed, why not just *get a poodle* in the first place?? #DogsOfCoSo Better yet, adopt a shelter dog from the deep end of the canine gene pool.
@janallmac My veterinarian told me that these doodle breeds are prone to all manner of ailments, including cancer, limiting their life span. I guess if you select a dog based on their poofy hair, this is what you get. In contrast, my lovable shelter mutt shepherd - collie - setter - retriever mix “Shadow” lived 17.5 years after my ex husband and I adopted him full grown in 1987.

I can see that! Sending virtual scritches their way. 🤗 😍 💜
Same here! I could not love my Magnificent Mischling more!
The more popular those designer breeds become, the more unscrupulous breeders they attract.

Full disclosure: The chihuahua mix is a maniac. But I like that about her. The beagle mix is super chill but has an alarmingly high chipmunk kill rate.
@janallmac @cassandra17lina Cornell Veterinary College of medicine was one of my accounts. They had CT for doggies before some countries had more than one scanner! Anyhow one great doctor told me: "you want a great dog, get one from a shelter". I respected him, when I did get a dog that's what I did and she was amazing.

I am deliriously happy with my two shelter mixes, too. People spend a lot of money on dogs for questionable reasons sometimes, but hey, you do you, right? Marketing, is what it is, really, IMO.
