If anyone knows what to do if Windows 10 upgrade tells you it can't proceed because Avira's on your machine and isn't compatible when there's no trace of Avira on the machine, please let me know a.s.a.p.! I sought help from Major Geeks, and we got a lot of malware off the machine, but that didn't solve the problem. Thanks! #TechHelp #Windows7Pro #Windows10Home #WindowsUpgradeProblem
@AngryCanadianGamer Malwarebytes, ADWCleaner, RogueKiller, HitMan Pro, and MGTools (includes tweaked Combofix and many system checks).
@caaddison88 Okay, so, if Avira was on her system AT ALL, you will need to follow the instructions to remove it from your system and boot in safemode to ensure it's completely gone, then reboot for the upgrade to finish. Rebooting following removing the uninstalled program basically gives the system time to remove the registry keys from your system. Pinging ze techheads to chime in. #TechHelp

@caaddison88 get in touch with others? there could be other things fouling it up other than just avira. IDK
@caaddison88 Which malware remover did you use? Malwarebytes is usually my goto for nasty infections.
Also, look up a program on Major Geeks called "HiBit Uninstaller". It does deep scans of your system when performing an uninstall so it gets every last trace of a program off your system.
