I think space combat is going to make near-earth orbit impossible; probably in the next decade.

Then we'll be praying for another Carrington event to help clean near space.

@danalan All spacefaring nations know space combat is like shooting themselves in the foot, although Russia did an ASAT test in November 2021 that caused their own crew to take shelter with us.

Xi is a rational actor, but Putin is not. Hopefully mortality claims Putin before it gets to that.

@WordsmithFL A simple top-down control dictatorship doesn't necessarily need space assets. Take away the technology advantages of the US, and it could even up the battlefield, for sure.
