When Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980, there was ash fallout as far south as northern New Mexico and as far east as Minnesota.
The dust storm and then the snowstorm that followed here in Albuquerque yesterday hid the Sandia Mountains.
I took this photo looking east where the mountains should be.
