Follow

I think some of the accounts with the big followings don't like it here bc they can't 'go viral'. No one but them knows how many ppl 'like' their posts, etc.

It must feel very strange/disorienting to them.

I may be wrong, but this place seems more suited to ppl like me. I always followed way more ppl than followed me on the bird. But I didn't/don't care. I followed ppl bc they were interesting & shared good stuff. I learned sooo much! Hope to continue that here.

@VictoriaLandis1 I think there are plenty like us! The basic fact is that your posts here are far more likely to get engagement, and isn't that *really* what we're looking for out of a community??

@PeaceMob I agree! I don’t often have stuff to say, but I always thought, why bother? I don’t have thousands of followers, so who even hears me on the bird app?

@VictoriaLandis1 I agree. I didn't have that many Twitter followers as well. I always thought the pleas for "follow me" sounded pathetic and I almost never followed someone who begged for it.

@SeattleCass @VictoriaLandis1 sadly a few have brought that habit here. Curating our experience here is entirely in our power. LOL I have a very very popular # muted here....because I'm not interested and it's lovely that I can make that choice

@VictoriaLandis1

CoSo is definitely more community and user based. You can search by hashtags and pin dedicated columns to those hashtags (For example I have one for . everyone's very good about including that hash w the music they play so I have a feed showing what everyone's playing)

There's no viral or trending meter here to get sucked into toxic confrontational BS.

There's kind & fun interactions and the bonds that are formed, and mutual interests, that bring people together.

@VictoriaLandis1 contrarily my introvert husband thrived on Twitter...he read, liked and RTed...commented every once in a rare while. Not sure he ever initiated a new post. I told him CoSo isn't for him...he needs his journalists, politicians and sports stuff 🤷‍♀️

@VictoriaLandis1 Yep!

Follower count means little here — although, oddly enough, my follower count is growing here faster than it ever did on Twitter, not that I've tried to increase it in either place.

Turns out, there are a lot of people who just like talking with other people without having to turn it into a performance.

@VictoriaLandis1 I feel the same way. I followed every Dem/Blue campaigns on the bird site, with the intention to amply them. However, I ran into the ratio problem, so I had to unfollowed a bunch of them, so I can follow others. I like that there is not such rule here. I like to hear what ppl have to say/share.

@VictoriaLandis1 I can see the likes people get just by clicking on the thread but not on the main screen?

I think I like that we have to find it that way, if we want to?

@VictoriaLandis1 All those attention hound Twutter refugees will be JUST FINE.

And what if they're not?
🤷‍♂️

@VictoriaLandis1

I was not obsessed with how many followers I had but it was interesting to be able to see how well accepted, or not, my views were.
