Mark Robinson and the Republican Wackjob Problem

“ This is not a problem of fringe figures operating around the margins of the party. The party’s ability to maintain some distinction between respectable, reality-based figures who wield influence, and conspiratorial maniacs lurking around the margins, has collapsed completely.”

Well, technically, it never existed. Nixon was a crook, Reagan had dementia, hell, even Dubya’s wife said the Presidency was over Bush’s skill level.

I’m not exactly sure what qualifies as fringe—Republicans haven’t much of a track record when it comes to Presidential candidates. Now, they’re pushing to bring back racism again.

I keep trying to figure won’t what he means by “margins” and keep drawing a blank.

This is true. Maybe all that’s changed really is that the internet has made the permeable margins more permeable and more obvious, as well as acted as an accelerant, incubator and non-deletable record of wackjob-ness.
