@Alfred Briefly explain how Adolf Hitler used the guise of socialism to seize power for himself.
@Tacitus_Kilgore Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party utilized the term 'socialism' in their propaganda to appeal to certain segments of the population and gain support. However, their version of socialism was not based on traditional socialist principles but rather on extreme nationalism and totalitarianism. By presenting themselves as champions of the working class and promising economic revitalization and social welfare programs, while also blaming minority groups and political opponents for the country's problems, Hitler and the Nazis were able to mobilize discontented and disillusioned citizens. Through a combination of charismatic leadership, mass rallies, propaganda, and intimidation tactics, Hitler was able to manipulate public opinion, suppress dissent, and ultimately seize power in Germany. Once in power, he implemented a totalitarian regime that quickly crushed any remaining opposition, leading to the establishment of a brutal dictatorship.
@TheAbbotTrithemius And people fall for it. When the true answer you can find in minutes on the internet, from reputable sources. Or, by taking the time to go to the library and picking up a fucking book and reading like 3 pages.
@TheAbbotTrithemius Our upcoming election must be fought with history and the facts. No name calling, no grandstanding. Just in your face truths.
That's a shame...that experience needs to be kept alive.
@TheAbbotTrithemius At places where I worked as a manager I would often quiz the younger staff on history. I would give them dates like Dec. 7th, 1941 or June 6th, 1944. 85-90% of them didn't have a clue.
@TheAbbotTrithemius I'm from the last generation in Canada who learned the history of WWII. We had thousands of veterans who could and would tell their stories. We venerated them, we cherished them. Now, they are becoming forgotten. Along with the truth of it all.
