Why didn't these employers hire Americans in the first place?
These 680 jobs, will they pay a living wage? Offer even minimal benefits? Healthcare? If not, why not?

@Stonekettle here's what's really sad. I bet those jobs will go unfilled because Americans don't want to work as laborers.
Several years ago, Colbert did a thing with the United Farm Workers where they promoted the jobs to American citizens.
They had 9,000 applicants... but only 7 people actually accepted and stuck with the jobs.
Since then, agricultural wages have doubled or more, and many farms are now offering health insurance... but *still* can't get people to take the jobs.

I'm sure you saw the reference -- that the company recently settled an expensive sexual discrimination lawsuit? JUST A COINCIDENCE I'm sure.

A couple years back they cracked down on undocumented agricultural workers here in GA, and the farmers couldn't find anyone else willing to do the work for the wages they offered.
They couldn't even get prison labor to work in that heat, for those hours.
If they paid a living wage and offered benefits, the price of soybeans, peanuts, and peaches would probably go through the roof.
The whole system needs a rethink.
