Does everyone in the US strongly identify with a political party? I kinda think political parties are a major problem, but one that will never go away either. I'd rather be identified as individual with opinions on various topics than as a supporter of a party. I dunno, maybe i'm splitting hairs.

@Stevo They seem to now. It didn't used to be the defining characteristic of an individual, but in the last two decades, it sadly seems to have evolved into a means of pre-judging people.

@Stevo I find it super weird and I dislike it even more here in Canada, because all those chucklefucks are pretty much the same at this point.

@Chriskorvela My impression which might be wrong is that people seem to be more political the farther you go out west in Canada. I'm in Quebec where it's a big mixed bag of everything.

@Stevo If there is a hope for democracy, it's going to be in the US discovering how to develop a mechanism for separating issues from party affiliations.

The US is currently the most powerful nation on earth, and if it doesn't figure out some stuff quickly, it's in serious danger of coming unglued internally.

If that happens, there is no limit to how bad the global situation will get.

@Stevo I sort of align more with a party these days, but it's the parties that have changed, not me. Republicans are the reason I won't vote for Republicans. They have the power to change that.
