@DeborahJRoss if I'm not mistaken I believe the reasoning behind this was that offering HIV medication went against their religion because they think it encourages homosexual behavior. Like what the fuck…

@StephanieResists My younger daughter, who's a Family doc, writes PreP Rxes for her heterosexual patients, too. The virus doesn't care.

@DeborahJRoss Indeed, they do not in fact give a shit. They always try to blame diseases on the LGBTQ. I remember when the AIDS virus was blamed on us and monkeys. Now they're trying it with the Monkeypox virus as well, saying it was first found in a gay person and labeled it an STD, WHICH IT IS NOT.

@StephanieResists I'm so with you. I remember when bigots were terrified of hugging queerfolk. My kids tell me their first activist memory was me taking them (in a stroller) to AIDS Walk LA.

@DeborahJRoss I remember what a big deal it was when Princess Diana touched a person infected with aids. Sad state of affairs.

@StephanieResists I had a dear, dear friend who contracted HIV early in the epidemic. Give him long hugs for as long as he was with us. Miss him so much.
