I hate how desperate for friends and connection I am that I get over exuberant in new friendships and terrify people.
Because I am over exuberant as a person, and I guess people need time to discover that?
I don't know. Almost 52 and still that kid who's like, "WANNA PLAY WITH STAR WARS PEOPLE?!"
I'm your friend.
@Shelter ❤️
@researchbuzz
Dort Narena.
Right there I was your friend.
@researchbuzz @Shelter I am a friend too. I am the opposite, I never keep contact with friends and slowly drift into loneliness from lack of action.🤷♀️ And the great crutch of my 32 son with autism makes it too easy.
@Kms68 @researchbuzz
I forget until I am reminded, so I get this.
🤗
@Shelter I don't think I've ever adjusted to how commonly people say they "love" something. A casual, "Oh, I love that movie!" is maybe more like, "It's a good movie. Not a favorite, but worth watching again," from me.
So I hear, "I love..." and I go full "YES! We have a common interest! I can info dump for HOURS!" I've been scaring potential friends off that way for 45 years.
@weirdfizz
Yes I even had to explain to my kid, who is ALSO exuberant about their stuff, that when I say I enjoyed something instead of gushing it means exactly what I said.
No, don't ask me why I am not gushing.
I enjoyed it! Let it be!
But I don't care! I mashed up toys from universes and didn't care!
I will not care.
@Shelter *high five*
Ever watched The Toy Story That Time Forgot?
@Shelter I have not. Is this a reccomendation?
Yep
All about how we play with toys is more important than what the toys are meant to be.
@Shelter you like Star Trek and Bluey. I will heed this recommendation.
@Shelter And I'm the one with the dirt pile out back, building roads for the land speeders ... I scare people away sometimes. Been doing it since I was a child.
We should have had a play group.
@Shelter 😎
@Shelter Indeed!
@Shelter
I wanna play! 🥺 I hear ya and can relate. 🫂
@see_the_sus
I turned over my Star Wars People to 13, but I can steal them back.
@Shelter (sad nod) at .least you haven't given up. I've pretty much given up. Just trying to get used to having no friends and being alone.
