Finally did some phonebanking this election. I'd been reluctant, but heard from my friend that she was doing it & so succumbed to the peer pressure. ;-)

It is a privileged position of indifference presuming that if things were really bad "someone would do something." That someone is you, me, all of us.
One reason I am fascinated by the buildup of Nazi Germany is German people weren't inherently evil. Most were just complacent, going along, unwilling to get involved.
All too familiar in America.
40M registered Democrats didn’t vote in 2016. If they had, Clinton would have been president. Not trump.
We get the government we deserve.
And yet, HRC won the popular vote by 3M in 2016. It seems w/compromise to the slave states call The Electoral College, votes only count if they'd been cast in the 7-8 currently called SWING states.

Yes, but likewise, a D Congress with a RWNJ POTUS wouldn't get much done either - and we could end up with Project 2025.
We need to give POTUS Harris a solid Blue Congress so she can get things done "For The People"!
Don't forget local election - state legislatures & Govs. have it in their power to neuter the Electoral College by passing

We have Angus King as our indie " senior " senator and a dem whom I've never heard of was running against him along with a few other parties. I really don't want votes peeled away from him = going to the maga rep.
My local state indie is amazing. Organic farmer & very responsive to all constituents. A maga " pro-family " aka anti-woman is in the running..ugh. 🙄

Pay attention to down-ticket races too, especially school boards. Lots of dark money in those now. Not as "local" as they used to be.

Teachers have a hard enough job with under-funding, growing mental health issues in students with anxiety, and dictated curricula!

I worked the polls in 2020. My job was to enter the paper ballots into the computer. An elderly woman handed me her ballot with tears streaming down her face.
“I’m 82 & this is the first time in my life I’m voting. It’s my fault that trump was elected.”
I did my best to assure her it’s not her fault but she was inconsolable. She promised to vote in every election thereafter.

Would love it, but again would only work if they were in the States whose Electoral votes add up to 270! If every vote in CA or NY (for example) voted for HRC, she'd still only get the total Electoral Votes allocated for that state!
Why we need the #NationalPopularVote so that every vote - no matter where it was cast (Overseas voters, etc.) count.

I voted this year from Iceland for the first time. My votes is registered in California (already counted), so it’s just going to increase Kamala Harris’ victory margin there, but I still wouldn’t have missed voting for the world.
@S_r_stone one guy spoke to me for a long time--he just seemed beat down by life--was convinced that it wouldn't make any difference who won the election. I just told him I was sorry he felt that way, and I could understand where he was coming from, but neither of us was going to convince the other & so just ended the call.
