Finally did some phonebanking this election. I'd been reluctant, but heard from my friend that she was doing it & so succumbed to the peer pressure. ;-)

@LnzyHou not too bad. A couple hostiles, couple nonvoting cynics, an a bunch of enthusiastic Harris supporters.

@LnzyHou @rpardee Seriously.
I can write off the hardcore Trumplicans as either hopelessly deluded by the RW media echo chamber or just sincere believers facism is better than their group losing power.

The privileged unaware and undecided can be won over. The privileged cynics smugly superior doin a "both sides" dance can seriously DIAF.

@S_r_stone @rpardee

Ask the folks on CoSo who block politics if they vote. They don’t want to hear it.

Hearing it makes it real.

In most states, next week is the last to register.

"The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men."

-Plato

It is a privileged position of indifference presuming that if things were really bad "someone would do something." That someone is you, me, all of us.

One reason I am fascinated by the buildup of Nazi Germany is German people weren't inherently evil. Most were just complacent, going along, unwilling to get involved.

@S_r_stone @rpardee

All too familiar in America.

40M registered Democrats didn’t vote in 2016. If they had, Clinton would have been president. Not trump.

We get the government we deserve.

@LnzyHou @S_r_stone @rpardee

And yet, HRC won the popular vote by 3M in 2016. It seems w/compromise to the slave states call The Electoral College, votes only count if they'd been cast in the 7-8 currently called SWING states.

"Take Action Now – Tell Your Legislators to Pass National Popular Vote"

@LnzyHou @Gladari @S_r_stone @rpardee

A friend from Florida was " non political " and never voted. Despite my warning.

Well roe vs wade changed that! 🗳 she said she's all in! So maybe the dems will pick up a few due to it.

@KazzyH @Gladari @LnzyHou @rpardee Down ballot is what counts!

A Democrat President with a Pub Congress won't help much. Legislation requires control of Congress, too.

@S_r_stone @KazzyH @LnzyHou @rpardee

Yes, but likewise, a D Congress with a RWNJ POTUS wouldn't get much done either - and we could end up with Project 2025.

We need to give POTUS Harris a solid Blue Congress so she can get things done "For The People"!

Don't forget local election - state legislatures & Govs. have it in their power to neuter the Electoral College by passing
The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC)

@Gladari @KazzyH @LnzyHou @rpardee All the way down to dog catcher.

Used to be Independent. Voted for Pubs and Dems every election. Probably leaned Dem 60% over time. 2016 changed everything. Failures of every Pub in Congress to do anything meaningful after 2016 sealed the deal.

@Gladari @S_r_stone @LnzyHou @rpardee

Well I already voted as soon as I was able 🗳 2 purples 2 blues.

💜💜💙💙

All done with a great weight lifted off my shoulders. 😁

@LnzyHou @Gladari @S_r_stone @rpardee

Actually it was 4 blue ! 2 indies. I didn't vote for the dems going against the indies.

Forgot to add in Harris/walz and county commissioner 🙂

We have a wonderful Progressive "indie" 3rd party here in WV called the Mountain Party.

@Gladari @LnzyHou @S_r_stone @rpardee

We have Angus King as our indie " senior " senator and a dem whom I've never heard of was running against him along with a few other parties. I really don't want votes peeled away from him = going to the maga rep.

My local state indie is amazing. Organic farmer & very responsive to all constituents. A maga " pro-family " aka anti-woman is in the running..ugh. 🙄

Mountain party! 🙂

@Gladari @S_r_stone @KazzyH @LnzyHou @rpardee

Pay attention to down-ticket races too, especially school boards. Lots of dark money in those now. Not as "local" as they used to be.

@misterfive @S_r_stone @KazzyH @LnzyHou @rpardee

Absolutely! I think those RWNJ Mom's For Liberty are trying to get elected to those so they can ban (burn) books!

Teachers have a hard enough job with under-funding, growing mental health issues in students with anxiety, and dictated curricula!
