In my darkest hours, I question why we continue fighting the good fight. I π where this is going. While I π we prevail, it's time for me (& you) to plan alternatives if we don't. It sickens me to my core to feel like this. Reading the tea leaves, there is no good end to this.
@LiberalLibrarian @SSNBubblehead
In many ways, I believe we have no chance. That we are beyond the point of no return with the climate and at the mercy of authoritarian oligarchs politically and economically.
But I can't live in that. If there's even the smallest chance of making the world better, for future generations, I must keep that flame burning
@SSNBubblehead
For me I'm doing what I can to ensure democracy prevails:
I'm emailing folks, sharing with them my state's deadlines for registering to vote and when is the last day to request a mail-in ballot.
I have offered to babysit for moms during early voting at the nearby park with other volunteers while moms go to vote.
I've offered rides in groups or paid for ubers for elderly women to go vote. These elderly women remember the horrors of life before Roe v Wade.
And Im a pollworker!
@SSNBubblehead I'm sorry but you're wrong on a few counts. It is time to enjoy the holidays. βοΈπ²π
Sometime next year when the election gets closer it will be time to make phone calls and knock on doors.
It absolutely is not time to put any energy whatsoever into a backup plan. Put ALL of your energy into preventing Trump from regaining the Whitehouse. If he wins, and that's a big if, there will be about 2 months between the election in November and inauguration in January to make plans.
@SSNBubblehead I understand how you feel. And I feel that way on occasion. But I refuse to bow down. I refuse to give up. I refuse to fear.
Pick up a copy of Luis Valdez's "Zoot Suit". Read until the end. And you WILL pump your fist. We are bigger than they are. And we will win.
