Just got a tip from MtF reddit that sounds like something the Repugs might have something to do with. Including link. https://www.reddit.com/r/MtF/comments/11x2zdq/alert_the_dea_is_proposing_a_rule_to_prevent_us/ Dunno about you, but I smell a repuke involved. Does anyone else? #LGBTQ #Politics 1/2
I would recommend anyone that receives telemedicine treatment, to please leave a public comment, anon or named, on the regulation proposed changes. It's not clearly worded enough to define what telemedicine options are to be effected, and does not clearly note what more this will do, with an open ended language. https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2023/03/01/2023-04248/telemedicine-prescribing-of-controlled-substances-when-the-practitioner-and-the-patient-have-not-had#open-comment /noscrub
@PaganMother Here's some additional information and a letter written tot he DEA by a physician who provides gender affirming care:
@Iresine Thank you for that, I was wondering if there was more to the tip than just hearsay.
@PaganMother When the COVID state of emergency went into effect, the Ryan Haight act was suspended (the suspension allowed teleprescribing.) The state of emergency is set to expire in May, so the Ryan Haight act will go back into effect, making it much harder to access scheduled meds like testosterone and ADHD stimulants.
@Iresine I *really* hope they push to make it a protected access right, because I can't afford to travel the 45 minute drive it takes to get to the closest clinic in my region of Michigan, and I know plenty of other folks that can't either. :(
@PaganMother please consider leaving a comment for the DEA and sharing with the people you know who would also be affected. You can leave one using a false name/email for anonymity.
To explain why this is bad, and how this impacts rural americans as well as transfolk, this impacts anyone that receives medical care, therapy, or treatment that requires prescription fills at all. This is needed care provided for people unable to travel due to illness, due to transportation issues and many other reasons. But this also provides care for transfolk unable to travel without drawing ire from transphobes and hate groups. Are we really about to do this? #LGBTQ #Politics 2/2
