@NorCalCherylLyn I always described as a "gateway drug" into science fiction. I know SF writers who roll their eyes at "Trekkies" (I prefer Trekkers), but I remind them that those Trekkies wouldn't be reading their books if Star Trek hadn't introduced them to science fiction. Roddenberry used many SF writers for his scripts; no doubt viewers saw those names on the screen and went looking for their books.
