@SupplySgt glad you’re safe! It’s scary as hell out there. Really hope your trees stay up but I can’t see how any are still standing in this.
@SupplySgt we really won’t know about the damage until we get the tree off. It could be ok if nothing else falls on it. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
The rest of that line of trees is getting cut short if not taken out asap. Naturally it was the biggest one that fell… 🤦🏻♀️
@NorCalCherylLyn again glad you’re ok, hope if any damage it’s minimal
I lived under a canopy of massive old growth trees for 40 years. I miss the land and the river, but I do not miss being terrified every time the wind roared!
I'm sorry you are going through this tonight Cheryl! 😘
@MerakiLife @NorCalCherylLyn yeah it’s scary, my wife and GKids are upset and very scared, no matter how nice the trees look the danger isn’t worth it
I eventually learned to be very careful about what and where I planted! We humans rarely consider how enormous trees grow.
@MerakiLife @SupplySgt yeah there are great pluses for trees around your home but size matters…a lot! With the winds increasing and the fires also clearance is so important.
Even more importantly than size is root ball mass. Some trees like firs have very shallow roots for their height meaning they topple easily. Deciduous trees also need more shaping and branches trimmed if they are in yards. Most of us have to spend our money on things other than tree trimming services.
@MerakiLife @SupplySgt the other large one in the line is being uprooted too. Ground is cracking around it. Need to get it topped at least but I think will need a Pro for that. 🫣🫣🫣
@NorCalCherylLyn @SupplySgt I hope it’s all OK… we’ve had some large branches fall from a neighbors tree a couple of years ago… he’s cut back a lot and we’re going to prune straight up our property line.
@j0n @SupplySgt heard another one come down last night. Not sure which one yet… 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
@j0n @SupplySgt 2nd tree came down on neighbor’s barn. Not happy for it but kinda relieved. Hope the horses weren’t too freaked out.
@NorCalCherylLyn @SupplySgt I know the feeling… no horses, but more than a few dogs!
@NorCalCherylLyn @j0n @SupplySgt
Whoa💦
@NorCalCherylLyn @j0n too close! Glad everyone was ok, Guess I’ll be spending the day on clean up patrol, never seen a storm like that since I was a kid growing up in Washington state, I don’t remember those being that powerful
@SupplySgt @j0n we’ve never seen anything like that either. SIL’s family have lived here since the 50s and they say it’s a first for them. All Lincoln schools are closed so daughter and her hubby have the day to help. Glad Lowe’s is open!!
@NorCalCherylLyn @SupplySgt Wow! Sure was! 💨
@LnzyHou @j0n @SupplySgt such a freaking mess! SIL went to buy another chainsaw and Gson and hubby are coming out. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 that we can sleep in the trailer tonight.
@NorCalCherylLyn @j0n @SupplySgt
Horrifying. Wish I could help.
Lived in hurricane alley. I know the anxiety & fear.
@LnzyHou @j0n @SupplySgt Ty! 💙
@NorCalCherylLyn yeah it is, if they are still standing they’ll be removed in a few days, got a message in to our tree guy, had the oaks removed a few years ago those are the last of the big ones, not worried about the fruit orchard, how much damage did you get, saw your pics but it’s hard to tell
