Ghost writers Bun Man and Mr. Purple were instrumental in providing Thomas w/ the homespun humor which helped solidify Americans push for independence from Britain at a time when many Americans didn't really see this as a viable option.

The sermon format of Common Sense was particularly to Bun's liking because it structured everything into 20-min. segments just like 'good' Methodist ministers do today.
