Sooo….what are all the pro-hamas Jew haters (and whether they admit it or not thats what they are) going to be angry about when its not cool to be angry about Gaza anymore? And are we “zionist hoodlums” aka ACTUAL JEWS supposed to just say “yeah well all that hateful ignorant shit you said because you never read a book or talked to a jew in your fucking white anglo privileged life is all forgiven..we cool, Gentile…we cool”. I dont think so. Kind of done forgiving the ignorant.
so... anyone upset about Gaza is an unserious ignorant bigot?
@tgraph52
Thats not what i said. I am upset about gaza too. I am, in case its unclear, referring to a specific subset of people who have jumped on the “anti-zionist” bandwagon without knowing anything other than “i should be angry about this”. Before they know it they are equating all Jews to the Israeli government and that heats up into anti-semitism faster than matzoh on a hot rock. We good?
@MPCavalier When you start saying that people are _actually_ haters - ascribing motivations about people who you don't know, that fit a narrative, you may be in the throws of cognitive bias, and you may be judging their actions based on your biases, not theirs.
When people are legitimately objecting to Palestinians being killed, that is _not_ the same as "hating Jews".
I don't hate Jewish people, or want Jewish people harmed, but I also don't think what is being done to Gazans is okay either.
@MPCavalier There's a lot of us saying "stop killing human beings" and the response keeps being "why do you love Hamas?"
As if saying that you don't want _any_ people killed means you automatically support killing, and clearly support terrorists.
As if that's not the _opposite_ of what we're saying.
When you say "pro Hamas Jew-haters" to describe people protesting against violence, you're saying _I_ support Hamas and I hate Jews, and that's untrue.
It's untrue of most people protesting.
@AskTheDevil
I feel the same way. There are people, who claim to be protesting whats going on over there, harassing Jews over here because they either assume that every Jewish person has a hand in the Gaza war, or they are just using it as an excuse for anti-semitism. Thats who I am talking about. Protestors can protest. But they’ve been harassing Jewish students without provocation and without knowing where they even stand. I don’t really know how to make myself clearer.
@MPCavalier I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and feelings on this. I feel like I have trouble making myself clear on this issue, too. It's like we're trying to talk through the fog of war.
@AskTheDevil
Same here and right back at you! Its complex. I appreciate the opportunity to clarify myself. More than I got from a few other users here.
@MPCavalier I try to only stop talking to the people who've stopped really talking to people and are just talking at them.
We can't figure things out if we just stop talking to one another and stop listening to one another all the time.
We don't have to always agree with one another to _listen to_ and try to _understand_ where each other are coming from.
@MPCavalier Everyone should be a Zionist; it seems only fair the Jewish people should have their own homeland: a forever sanctuary from the horrific racism/abuse/genocide they've oft-suffered elsewhere.
Even just looking at religions: there're 50 Muslim-majority nations, 126 Christian-majority nations, 7 Buddhist-majority nations, 3 Hindu-majority nations, &c.
People of countless other faiths/ethnicities have places where their beliefs/heritage are majority.
Jews at LEAST deserve one too.
@IrelandTorin
Precisely. My argument is with people who
-use “zionist” as an ethnic slur
-use the never ending war between palestine and israel as a diving board for their overall jew hatred
-and a new group i just added: people who misconstrue my disdain for the above two groups as somehow “bigoted”
Im being specific enough I think.
@MPCavalier They won't last that long. It'll be on to the next manipulated crisis for them.
