Oo. What a timely essay. The upcoming release of Civ VII had me thinking it was time to re-examine the assumptions built into 4X games about cultural development.
I LOVE how many Civ fiends have come out of the woodwork over this essay. ☺️
I think it's a tremendously influential game.
(And here, yes, with you folks, I feel safe to say what I was thinking when writing about "Liberty Cones" - a.k.a. Giant Dildos of Justice. 😅 Oh, ancient Mesopotamia had some good laughs, I'm sure.)
