Well hot dog. My beta readers think the book's A-OK.
I've put together all requisite secondary materials - pitch paragraphs, one-page book summary, three-page trilogy notes - and drafted a friendly howdy to my agent.
It's scheduled to go out tomorrow morning, to start February off right. After that... π€·ββοΈ it could be weeks before I hear back, or months before she has time to read the MS, to decide if she wants to pitch it to presses.
But at least it'll be out of my hands.
Thanks, C.M. - as you well know, the road is hard, and there be dragons. π¬ Not the good kind, either. How are your own early year writing goals faring now?
It's going well, @MLClark. Thanks for asking. In the beta reader stage myself, battling that dragon of self-doubt. π
That's what I wanted to inquire about! Still on hand if you'd like another pair of peepers. But if you have all the eyes on it you want, splendid - and I hope any and all feedback just motivates you further. πͺπ»π
Gosh, I would love to get your feedback, if you don't have too much on your plate, @MLClark.
It'll make a nice pleasure read this weekend! I'll DM my email.
Awesome, @MLClark! Thank you so much. π
I have it in MS Word and pdf format, but can also convert to something else if you prefer.
Congratulations.
Iβve started my memoir for my sons. The amount of discipline needed is amazing. I can find many reasons to not sit at my work station.
Wish I had your skills.
Oh, what a great project, Lindsay!
I find one part of what makes us bounce away from the work station is the disappointment of the first draft (why are my words not wording as brilliantly on the page as in my brain?!).
But as with anything, the "muscle" grows with use - and it sounds like you have a terrific motivation in wanting to share your story with your boys. You know what you need to do! πͺ The words will come: just give yourself the grace not to expect perfection all at once.
My greatest surprise is being lead to a theme that carries the memoir. I find myself going back to interject portions tied to the theme.
I did not create an outline. Itβs flowing organically much to my amazement.
Hard to realize memoirs are usually 75,000 to 100,000 words when Iβm at 5,384 words.
Thanks for encouragement.
Oh, that generative creative process is *wonderful*. So glad it's clicking for you.
And I hope you don't mind if I check in on how that memoir is progressing this year! Now that I know what you're working on, I'd love to cheer you on as the work continues. What a lovely gift of a project you're creating - however long it takes.
I would love that.
Need to find an opening for my grandmother watching the Titanic being launched in Belfast. She was 10.
@MLClark πππCongrats!!! Sending good wishes for this !
Good Wednesday to you. π»βοΈ
Now you can take a bir of a break and rest.
π€ ...rest.
π€¨ "Rest"?
π§ *looks up the term*
π Ohhhh! Reeeeest!
π Yeah, I suppose I can for a cuppa, at least!
π€βπ Thank you, ACG2! Happiest of midweek days to you, too!
@MLClark
πππ Congratulations.
Go treat yourself somewhere fun, have a nice dinner and raise a glass to your accomplishment. π
Congratulations, @MLClark, and best of luck! π€
