😊
Well hot dog. My beta readers think the book's A-OK.
I've put together all requisite secondary materials - pitch paragraphs, one-page book summary, three-page trilogy notes - and drafted a friendly howdy to my agent.
It's scheduled to go out tomorrow morning, to start February off right. After that... 🤷♀️ it could be weeks before I hear back, or months before she has time to read the MS, to decide if she wants to pitch it to presses.
But at least it'll be out of my hands.
Congratulations.
I’ve started my memoir for my sons. The amount of discipline needed is amazing. I can find many reasons to not sit at my work station.
Wish I had your skills.
Oh, what a great project, Lindsay!
I find one part of what makes us bounce away from the work station is the disappointment of the first draft (why are my words not wording as brilliantly on the page as in my brain?!).
But as with anything, the "muscle" grows with use - and it sounds like you have a terrific motivation in wanting to share your story with your boys. You know what you need to do! 💪 The words will come: just give yourself the grace not to expect perfection all at once.
Oh, that generative creative process is *wonderful*. So glad it's clicking for you.
And I hope you don't mind if I check in on how that memoir is progressing this year! Now that I know what you're working on, I'd love to cheer you on as the work continues. What a lovely gift of a project you're creating - however long it takes.
@MLClark
I would love that.
Need to find an opening for my grandmother watching the Titanic being launched in Belfast. She was 10.
