There are 8 uncontested seats for various offices on my ballot this year. Everyone of them is a Republican. 😱

@Lucky188

That’s how they win—it’s the long game.

Local Democratic Party is supposed to fill those openings.

@LnzyHou This is part of the problem with dark money. It only flows to one party so they can support more offices. It is the long game and they have been at it as long as I can remember. We also have zero non Republican Judges at county and local courts. Illinois is a blue state but where I live its very red.

@Lucky188 Many on my ballot too. I keep saying "Next time I'm going to run for township board or something. Just to give a choice". Although I forget about it until the deadline for filing passes.

@nursefrombirth @Lucky188 Most voters in my township (or county) are not looking for a write-in vote.

Even If you have a few people write it in, it might get you name recognition for when you do decide to run. Just my thoughts, I'm all for it. I'm sure you would be victorious in whatever position you choose.

Damn. Democrats fail at this so often. Simply making certain to have a candidate in every race would change the political landscape significantly.

They wouldn't even have to do much campaigning. Just getting people on the ballot would help.

@Lucky188 god this information would have been helpful last year when people could stop the uncontested candidates. MTG was uncontested her first time, Boebert also uncontested in first election.

@JPSCHWEIZER63 It was no different two or four years ago. We had someone actually challenge our US House rep for 2020, the Local Democratic party didn't even know until I called and asked why no signs or mailers.

@Lucky188
That shouldn't happen. What's the state Democratic party doing?

@Jeber The money isn't there and the people who might run can't self fund a campaign.

@Lucky188 @Jeber

Isn’t that the dem party’s job to finance run?

@LnzyHou @Jeber Koch bros gave parties a choice years ago - compliance or no more money. Republicans choose compliance. Faces have changed a little but that deal has remained and Democratic party isn't as well heeled are the GOP , which considering who's DIL they put in charge of cookie jar might be well drained by now.
