Now this person is saying they're 14, and they have a niece.

I mean, I was 15 when my first nephew was born. But my brother is also 12 years older than me. It's not that common.

@LiberalLibrarian it is not.

my eldest sister had her son premature (she was 18)
i was born three weeks later to our 39 year old mother

so one of my nephews has always been three weeks older than me
And a pain about reminding me πŸ˜‚

@invisiblecatmom My high school BFF has a niece who is just a couple of years younger. One of the reasons we bonded back then was due to our similar families, as far as spacing out kids goes.

@LiberalLibrarian I have a friend who is 18 years younger than her next youngest sibling and who has a nephew who is 10 months younger than she is. She introduces him as her cousin so she doesn't have to explain.

@divisionbyzero @LiberalLibrarian My mother has nieces and nephews who are only slightly younger than her. As kids, we always called them aunts and uncles, since they were pretty much our parents' generation.

@divisionbyzero @LiberalLibrarian Of course we also referred to their parents as aunt and uncle, which they actually were. A bit complicated, really.

@LiberalLibrarian Not common, nor *that* rare. My mother has a niece only 4 years younger than her.

@LiberalLibrarian I was 7 when my first nephew and niece were born. One brother is 15 years older, the other 17 years older.
