My biggest regret is that I never finished college or attended a trade school because I don't have the earning potential to give my husband a rest that he absolutely deserves.
When people wonder why people quit to have a kid? That was me. We did the math. My working would cost more than I brought in adding daycare.
I cried for MONTHS because I had earned a paycheck since I was 16.

@Shelter We did the same math. I had a college degree, but all the entry-level jobs wouldn't cover daycare. I stayed home, started writing again, now my earning comes from royalties on books and editing. My degree is in marine bio, but I never got to work in the field because the pay is too low to support a family.

I'm a writer. I haven't written since I gave up.
I really wish I had gone to welding school.
It would be deeply satisfying, pay well, and I could have afforded care for my kids and been home, too.
