Today is National Peach Cobbler Day.
I don't know exactly what peaches have to do with shoes, but still yum.
I think this holiday should be moved to the fall when peaches are in season though.

@Patti1120 yeah, same! With vanilla ice cream
@Kurtroedeger
You know, it's kind of a cheap and extremely non-gourmet dessert, but I love this recipe with canned peaches. And you don't have to peel and slice the peaches: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/12386/quick-and-easy-peach-cobbler/
@janallmac that's a very southern version where the filling is mixed all around with the dough parts.
I prefer the biscuit part on top of the fruit. This one is super simple too.

@Kurtroedeger I only like the top crust to be pie crust... or rather, I like that style of crust best. Sometimes the texture of the biscuit part bugs me if it's not flaky enough. I know, everyone's a critic. π Sorry. We never had biscuits on the top of cobbler, it was always an actual pie crust, for whatever reason. Maybe that's not cobbler? π€ π€· For the easy dump & go style I love the whole mixing & mingling thing that happens between the crust & peaches. So good! π
@Kurtroedeger FWIW, whenever my grandma would make cobbler, it was a fruit filling with an actual pie crust only on top. So sort of a deep dish pie, really. I'm not sure if that's regional or just my grandma's preference, may have been just her. And cobblers are so confusing anyway, they're all different things.
@Kurtroedeger There are two different occupations known as "cobbler" and only one of them involves shoe making π€£
Either way, have the pudding! ππ
@stueytheround @Kurtroedeger
Stuey Google is not helping out here! Besides make shoes, what is the other occupation a cobbler does? I'm guessing something involving sex?
@janallmac The other cobbler paves roads with cobbles (large stones or pebbles) and *that's* where the dessert got its name π
It's supposed to look a bit like a cobbled road, so the scones/biscuits on top is the earlier recipe.
@janallmac That said, I like the way your mind works π€£π€£
OHHHH
OK that's so fun! And of course, that's where "cobblestones" come from.
My mind *does* work that way, but you can also blame/thank Google, which introduced me to Cobblers Awls in Cockney Rhyming Slang, but refused to mention anything about roads, so I assumed it had something to do with balls. π π π Sorry and thank you.
See, the internet is not always right, people! π
@stueytheround @Kurtroedeger
And it does look like cobbler topping, unless it's my grandma's cobbler.
Thank you!!! I love when all the linguistic pieces click together like this.
Damn it, Kurt! I was going to make fritters with some bananas that are about to turn, but now Iβm going to need to make peach cobbler (southern style!) Thanks a lot!
ALL WE ARE SAYING
IS GIVE PEACH A CHANCE!
@Kurtroedeger The cobbler part tho. ππ€
I agree with you that the day should be closer to when they're actually in season. Maybe this day was created to help sell canned & frozen peaches. π€
@Kurtroedeger I agree with you on this. And now I want peach cobbler.
