My seed order came. Planning a big bed of purple coneflowers and black eyed susans. Do I mix evenly, or do I give each one their own section 🤔
The bed shape will be amorphous around old stumps. So no set clean lines.

@Kurtroedeger - starburst pattern with alternating flowers for each spike.

@Kurtroedeger I say mix a bit. Mixed flowers have a really natural feel, especially if you're going for organic bed shapes.

@Kurtroedeger black eyed susans spread after the first year. and they're susceptible to fungi.

@Kurtroedeger
Enough of one color in an area to notice the color, but mix clusters a bit randomly. I think they may not bloom until the second year if you're starting them from seed.

@QueenOfEverything I got these from American Meadows. First time ordering from there, so we will see.

@Kurtroedeger I’d mix evenly. If they bloom together… spectacular. If they bloom at different times, than you’ll have a natural looking scattering 🥰

@Kurtroedeger I say mix together but in sections, not completely. They will intermingle over time. Monarda (bee balm) might also be nice in that mix.
