Hey coooooosoooooo. Later this coming week I'm gonna start an auction for the coso fund with this pen. I turned it using African Pauduk wood. It has a magnetic cap, and comes with a black ink cartridge and a refill cartridge. I'll cover shipping in the US, any bid amount is to be given entirely to coso.

@Kurtroedeger

Nice! I knew the master pen-creator of France, nearly 18y ago... Jean-Pierre Lepine, whose usine (factory) is nestled in the Juras mountains north of Geneve...

How do "we auction" on CoSo?

@zenmudprod

You make a post, try to pin it to your column, keep promoting it. And track what people bid, with announcements noting the current high bid.

@Mauve_matelot @zenmudprod
Yep, tags will be helpful. I was thinking of going with # kurtspenisupforauction
But then I read what I wrote 😱

@Kurtroedeger I recently learnt it's the technical term for hashtags with distinct words in it like

@zenmudprod

@Kurtroedeger @Mauve_matelot @zenmudprod

the folks who registered Pen Island dot com learned that...the hard way... 😏

@Kurtroedeger

wow wow wow Kurt that's gorgeous!!!

Thank you for offering such a gorgeous creation to support CoSo!

@Kurtroedeger

Such a magnificent writing instrument ✍️ I know it will raise lots of funds for .

I’ll do my best to participate but expect the bids will go way beyond my budget.

@Kurtroedeger what a beautiful pen! You must be very proud of the craftsmanship!

@fuse these are a great size to see a finished product relatively quickly to get that satisfaction in.

@Kurtroedeger ooh fancy. found yourself one of the kits I've never used.

@Brisse I like the vertex magnetic ones. Have a lux feel to them, good weight, and a very satisfying click when the magnet pulls the cap tight.

I have the same fountain pen model as my daily desk pen at work and it writes nice. I've been using lami safaris for years now and this has now replaced that.

I saw a black version somewhere and I haven't been able to find it again, but it looked great no matter the wood style.

@Kurtroedeger am I allowed to ask what grit you're sanding to and what you're using as a pen finish?

@Brisse

400 grit and right now I'm finishing up a little bottle of shellawax

@Kurtroedeger shellawax is great for starting out. :) I used to love it till I figured out my polish. don't leave any used towels with it on it anywhere flammable though, it can spontaneously combust when the oils in it are drying.

@Brisse I picked up a bottle of Mylands Friction polish to try next and see if I like it more or less than shellawax.

@Brisse

I've considered going the super glue sealant path and polishing to 1000 grit, but I'm satisfied with how smooth 400 can be with the friction polish applied. I can't tell the difference between 400 and anything higher when I rub it with my finger.

@Kurtroedeger yeah I use a 400 grit and homemade friction polish... the CA glue method is much harder to do and requires non-stick bushings. To get super high gloss with friction polish do 400 grit, and then put a few drops on your paper towel and wipe on, use the paper towel with the lathe on to burnish it and do like 3 coats like that. and just incase you haven't been told yet *ALWAYS* use paper towels for finishing, otherwise you could deglove your hand if it grabs.

@Kurtroedeger you can also cheat sanding CA glue finishing by sanding to only 400 grit, and then you need headlight cleaner from the automotive store... :P same works for any plastic blanks.

@Brisse ohhh, that's a good tip. I have some I'm prepping to get mixed with epoxy and needed a good epoxy polish
