When I was 17, my parents took me and my younger sister to through Holland and Germany to Stuttgart, so many different types of cherry cake was consumed that week.

I've no idea for top layer, maybe apple pieces on the very top?
Not sure what frosting would work with all that

@Kurtroedeger You need to find a good German bakery, the traditional Black forest Gateaux has biscuit/cookies layers included
