Nerd as I am, I've been looking forward to the new World of Warcraft expansion Dragonflight.
Decided that perhaps this would be the right time to upgrade my venerable ~10 yo gaming PC (I use Macs for everything else), so I bought a Lenovo Legion T5 R7, 16GB, NVIDIA 3060 Ti LHR 8GB GDDR6.
Holy carp! What a difference! ๐ฎ
@kel You bet! Of course, I expected a big performance boost, but holy carp this thing's fast. And it's not even a high-end gaming rig. I'm well pleased with it, everything's running at max settings, and smooth as butter. ๐
@Kryptos Very envious. Pair that with a low-latency connection and you'll be a God. ๐
@Kryptos I havenโt been playing over 6 years. Too much focus on end-game raiding. And the grind to level up got me fed-up. ๐คฃ
@SJvD1980 Yeah, I hear you -- I'm a casual player and don't really do raids at all. I catch up with them in later expansions, when I can solo them.
Leveling these days doesn't feel like a grind at all, I find. They've made a lot of changes and you can even choose to level up in any expansion you like, with "Chromie Time". It's pretty nifty.
I love the exploration and the lore, though, and the world, to me, is just gorgeous!
@Kryptos I quite lost track on the range of expansions. But I tried the Demon Hunter. But soon left after that expansion. My kid was born and I wanted / needed my spare time for my family. And the monthly fee had to be used for baby stuff, hahaha.
If they ever bring WoW to like, letโs say the Oculus Quest, I will be in 1000000%.
@SJvD1980 Oh, it would be so cool as a fully immersive experience! Here's hoping! ๐
@Kryptos have you tried FF14 ๐
@TheObserver No, but I know that it's supposed to be very good! Didn't they close the subscriptions for that at some point, due to a massive influx of new gamers?
I've read that the narrative elements in particular are very good in FF14.
Would be nice to try that, but then again, I'm not sure if I have time for two MMOs. ๐
@Kryptos well the people are nicer ๐
@Kryptos Nice. Haven't played WoW in a while, but yeah. Those specs should make it buttery.
