Anybody here doing #Barbenheimer ? I plan on watching "Oppenheimer" either Saturday or Sunday, but I'll give "Barbie" a miss.
I really liked "Fat Man and Little Boy", especially the way Paul Newman portrayed Gen. Grove.
I did indeed go to see #Oppenheimer last night. I think it's worthwhile. I mentioned Gen. Groves previously. He's portrayed by Matt Damon in this one, and comes across well. The main problem with this film is, when someone compresses 13 years of history into a 3-hour film, some hard choices have to be made about what gets included. I say they could have spent much less time on the security clearance issue.
@Boyceaz Speaking of politcs, Truman came across very poorly.

@KamloopsBob Hi Bob, have you read this thread on the role Canada played in the creation of the #atomicbomb. I was going to post it here, but tonight isn't the time. Maybe at a later date. I saw #Oppenheimer this evening. Still sorting my reaction.
@KamloopsBob All good points. I liked the use of clearance and subsequent congressional hearing as a way to frame the story, allow a good bit of narration, and add drama that isnβt all rah-rah science. To me it was good storytelling that added an important arc; politics end up dictating everything about how we use science and scientists.
