Dr Emily Porter
Women who are voting for Harris have likely also taken note of how (and why) she is commonly referred to as “Kamala” and not Harris. No one ever said they were voting for “Ronald, Bill,” “George,” “Barack,” or “Donald.”
Female physicians know this scenario all too well.

@feloneouscat yes, indeed
@b4cks4w @feloneouscat it's been a problem for women for ages. You can't go wrong calling her VP Harris or President Harris. 😁
@Jezibaba @b4cks4w @feloneouscat
Madam President works for me.
@Jezibaba @feloneouscat I'm on a last name basis with everyone. That's how I grew up for some reason. Turns out it works pretty well against unconscious biases.
@b4cks4w Very interesting, and you don't know how that came to be?
@feloneouscat
@Jezibaba @feloneouscat I didn't know it was unusual. Maybe I was part of a social experiment🤔
I refer to her as HARRIS if I don't know the people I'm talking to- or it's not a casual conversation.
But on here, and when talking with friends/neighbors I use Kamala because I feel that I do have a connection with who she is and what she stands for.
If I ever meet her in person, I'll use FORMAL TITLES... it really did piss me off last night with vance constantly referred to GOVERNOR WALZ as "Tim". If I had been Walz, I would've started referring to JD as "ASSHOLE"
@Jezibaba That's always bugged me too. Same thing happened with Hillary Clinton, but then it was like oh you have to distinguish her from her husband. 🙄
@nonayadambidnes exactly
@Jezibaba Female athletes go through the same thing. It's annoying. I read someone posted once that their female doctor got married, she asked "Are you going to change your name?" and the doctor said "Nope. HE didn't go to medical school." 🙂
@nonayadambidnes High five to her. That's dead on.
@Jezibaba That's untrue. "I Like Ike" (Dwight D. Eisenhower)
"Give 'em Hell, Harry!" (Harry Truman)
"Go with Joe" (Joe Biden)
"Jeb!" (Jeb Bush)
"Feel the Bern" (Bernie Sanders)
"I'm Just Wild About Harry" (Harry Truman)
"Jimmy Who?" (Jimmy Carter)
"Ready for Hillary" (Hillary Clinton)
"Pete for America" (Pete Buttigieg)
@Jezibaba My hat says Harris! Should I change it!
@BFBucky1 Nope. 😊
@Jezibaba
I refer to her as Harris for EXACTLY this reason.
She is Vice President Harris.
