The church got all of the property (land, cattle, etc) owned by each "witch" they removed from society. The more "witches" they got rid of, the richer the church became. Greed has always been a huge driving factor in most of human history.
It's the same reason divorce was outlawed in some churches. If the woman produced no heirs the church rec'd the property when they died.

@Jezibaba That's so weird ....that's exactly what I'm doing....except I'm cleaning....I have FINALLY learned...the secret. To stop ruining my clothes with cleaning products and such.... I just do it all naked...lol. Thanks @jaunty . Just put the hair up, pull the dress off , turn the music up and Clean......haven't ruined a dress since I learned this little trick....lol If I had a better looking body and a better kitchen, I'd be doing a podcast or whatever you call it. On post-op Hydrocodone so a bit unsure, tbh, about how I am doing. Thank you for asking, Potion Mistress of Sweet Cauldron. I no longer have my lump, surgeon says there is a good chance it was harmless, but he is super glad he did removal in general anesthesia because the lump was *on a nerve*. Not working today because I can't. How have you been?
@publickovacs Unsure is acceptable post-op, hydrocodone is good. May you remain in a painless state to go with lumpless. Not working makes sense though if you were it might have been amusing, for others. How many days off work?
I'm leaving some grief behind, prepping for winter hibernation, and planning the next thing.
