For the past 19 years, I have stayed in on Halloween to prepare a huge feast for the kids and their friends for when they return from trick-or-treating with my wife and the other Moms and Dads.
This is the first year my kids are off doing their "own thing," and it feels really weird.
I suppose I can focus on giving out candy and whatnot, but it just doesn't feel the same...
@JasonCrocker616 An adult dinner party could be fun...
@Blackwolf If only I knew some adults! lol...
[I'm transplanted far away from all friends and family, I'm from the Boston area, living outside of Albany. In other words, I'm DOOMED...lol!]
@JasonCrocker616 takes time to build up a network but it models healthy socializing for the kiddos anyways...abd they don't feel so guilty for leading their own lives :)
@JasonCrocker616 sorry about that. Get ready for a sinking feeling as you walk by your kid’s room after they have left home Price you pay for love.
for the record, the feast consisted of a dish I call "Fiesta Beef!"[with the exclamation point], roasted acorn squash with honey/butter/brown sugar, and dinner rolls.
The beef dish is basically cubed and browned beef slow-cooked in a Dutch oven with two jars of Newman's own Habanero-Lime salsa, caramelized onions, Spanish stuffed olives, and some bay leaf!
