There is not enough facepalm in the world. Dad just doesn't *think* about this sort of thing, the fact that items you bring into a dementia care facility just walk away. Not necessarily from outright theft, could be that, but more likely that either mom lost them, or another resident wandered in and took them.
Sometime in the next few weeks I'll be heading over to his house to do some cleaning, sorting, etc. I will probably go through mom's jewelry and removing anything that has real value: family heirlooms, real diamonds/pearls, etc. Dad clearly has no idea of their value, both monetary and sentimental. He just isn't that kind of person, he's more pragmatic, and always does whatever mom wants.
@AlphaCentauri Yuuup. Sis & I know this hella well, don't bring anything into a home that you don't want to walk. Dad just... doesn't get it. He does whatever mom wants. Absolutely aggravating.
