Oh, they were probably stolen. Never bring anything of value into a nursing home. When I worked in one, the list of temporary agency employees who were not allowed to work there again was two pages, long, three columns per page. And those were just the one who were caught.
@AlphaCentauri Yuuup. Sis & I know this hella well, don't bring anything into a home that you don't want to walk. Dad just... doesn't get it. He does whatever mom wants. Absolutely aggravating.
Sometime in the next few weeks I'll be heading over to his house to do some cleaning, sorting, etc. I will probably go through mom's jewelry and removing anything that has real value: family heirlooms, real diamonds/pearls, etc. Dad clearly has no idea of their value, both monetary and sentimental. He just isn't that kind of person, he's more pragmatic, and always does whatever mom wants.
