Just 3 episodes to it so far, it started a few weeks ago. Very informative about the process.
Good news: the incoming GOP Congress cannot defund the Special Counsel. They don't have control over how the counsel is funded.
@Impious_Jade Hence Greene's deranged demand to defund the DOJ completely.
Can you imagine the public reaction if they actually tried that?
They don't have the votes anyway. There are too many Rs who would balk at shutting down the FBI and all federal law enforcement to shield Trump from investigation.
@RationalLeft Truth. I think plenty in the GOP are too law-and-order to actually entertain the idea of defunding the institutions that uphold it in the US.
Also, MTG is a few sandwiches short a picnic.
@Impious_Jade Several have even said that Trump must face the consequences if a grand jury indicts. With a majority of only 4 in the House, they don't have the votes to "defund DOJ." Probably nowhere near enough.
But McCarthy enables Greene by coddling and promoting her... because he knows he can't possibly become Speaker without her faction.
@RationalLeft Thinking of McCarthy & Greene, I wonder if there is/will be a permanent schism in the GOP. Sometimes it feels like they're splitting, sometimes not.
So Smith will have what he needs to continue to do his job.
