A child opened the parents biometric gun safe and took a handgun to school. The parents showed the officer and the officers thumb opened it. They discovered you can even open it with a toe. Cool. Cool. This is fine.

Granted parents not securing firearms is a problem, but seriously, talk to your kids about what is going on in their lives!!!
@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine In situations like this, I 100% blame mom and dad. There is much they could do to have prevented this from happening.
It is scary, how many parents fail to take this subect seriously and properly educate and remove the "mystery" and curiosity behind firearms to their kids.
Common sense and education goes a long, long way, toward guiding children in good decision making skills.
@Idrake True but blame doesn't solve issues. And in the US there is no gun education that's mandatory. For whatever reason the parents at least locked it up and thought they secured it. The solution would be to recall and have everyone check their stuff.

I wonder who is selling these safes? Will there be a recall? And even the best little kids will flake out sometimes. Because they're kids. And parents aren't perfect either. But DAMN that's scary.
