I left the bird site in disgust, like 4 years ago.
Looked around in several Mastodon instances.
Almost worse, and not welcoming.
Posted a few links, nobody responded.
Not a single person said hi.
Saw some kind of kerfuffle about free-speech,
Joined CoSo to see for myself....
Those at Mastodon were not even wrong.....
Big welcome here, so I leaned in, and love it.

@corlin @th3j35t3r I dipped my toe into social media in the 2000s and couldn't stand it. Then I saw that J built a new platform, and having been a fan of his work for years, though this place had to be legit and good.
I have not been disappointed. And yes, within the first 10 minutes, the welcomes were amazing!
This is a GOOD place filled with intelligent folks!
