I've seen so many formerly avid followers of Trump obviously change their tune this election season.

So, I'm having trouble understanding how it is possible that more people voted for Trump than before.

Did they just keep their head down this time, and silently voted for him?

Or is their racism and misogyny so vital to their world view that they'd vote for the downfall of decency before voting for a woman of color?

@BlueStateBabe the perceived problems with the economy. Lots of people are being laid off. Inflation has people hurting.

And all they hear is a guy saying (filtered through all of his proxy voices - influencers, Elon Musk, think tanks, etc) I'm the only one who can fix this.

And they believe him because they are desperate.

And also because a lot of people will absolutely never vote for a woman.

@Hobyrim And yet, think of the mishandling of the pandemic that caused such economical chaos during his regime. Yes, prices are high. Because that is what happened with the pandemic.

I'm seeing the election being called for Trump already - The Hill news' declaration just crossed my desktop.

SMDH.
