@VelvetDuchess
Christ, could we just go back to the local butchers we used to have before multinational corporations took them all over and shut them down. We wouldn't have this problem. Ranchers I know have to send their cattle three or four states away rather than being able to process them locally/regionally.
@VelvetDuchess
Because they were all processed in one plant with cows from many different states/places, probably only one batch of which was infected. But now all the product from the plant are affected or potentially.
@FireMonkey This isn’t beef it’s salads, deli meats*chicken and frozen dinners.
@FireMonkey Here’s the 326 page list. https://www.fsis.usda.gov/sites/default/files/food_label_pdf/2024-10/Recall-028-2024-Labels.pdf
@VelvetDuchess
Ah, yes that's right. Nonetheless, the point remains the same - rather than many smaller facilities, processing has been gathered up into a few large facilities and it's much easier to spread a contaminated source out widely.
@FireMonkey DO NOT EAT ANY READY TO EAT CHICKEN PRODUCTS https://abcnews.go.com/food/story/listeria-recall-expands-12-million-pounds-meat-hits/?id=114868895
@VelvetDuchess @FireMonkey A good time to consider trying a vegan/vegetarian week.
@elbutterfield @FireMonkey Ye I’m mostly except for Costco and Publix chicken which I’m avoiding right now.
@FireMonkey I’m eating things like Naan, hummus, rice with quinoa, chia etc. beans, eggs products from Costco like the frozen sous vide because they pre date this mess.
@FireMonkey All of those brands are on the recall list.
